About

With a professional photography career spanning decades, I strive to capture a unique and fresh perspective in all my images, showing people things or personalities they wouldn’t otherwise see.

I started shooting in the 5th grade when I got a Kodak Instamatic 104 for my birthday. In the 10th grade I borrowed my father’s Mamiya twin-lens reflex to shoot photos of the town’s pet fair. I took names and phone numbers and sold more than $200 in prints in a week. That went toward my first 35mm camera, a Pentax Spotmatic 500. I knew, then, it would be a career.

I put myself through college working as a photographer for the local daily newspaper. In my senior year, I left college to become a staff photographer for the Associated Press. I spent the next 15 years as a photographer and photo editor at AP bearing witness to the beauty, the joys, the horrors, and sorrows in our world. My assignments ranged from Olympics, Super Bowls, World Series, popes and presidents, to wars, earthquakes, fires, and floods, as well as various other major sporting and news events around the world. After leaving the news business to pursue a couple of other careers in the high tech arena (both media related), I once again truly enjoy the artistic pleasure — and escape — of photography.

I am available for a wide range of photography needs, from editorial and sporting events, corporate, and portrait photography, to photo editing and photography education. Please see the Services page for a description of my photography services.
